Energy from the depths

The research subject of the GFZ is the “System Earth”. The work concentrates on the topics:

Physics of the Earth and geopotential fields
Geodynamics
Material cycles and natural resources
Prevention of natural disasters and mitigation of their consequences
Climate change and sensitive regions of the earth
Geomonitoring and Geoengineering

Based on geological preconditions, special experiments of the GFZ create the foundations for the technological and economic broad-scale application of geothermal power generation and heat utilization.
