Fraunhofer ISE’s research creates the technical prerequisites for an efficient and environmentally friendly energy supply, both in industrialized countries and in newly industrializing and developing countries.

To this end, the Institute develops systems, components, materials and processes in the fields of solar thermal energy, solar cells, solar building, electrical energy supply, microenergy technology, chemical energy conversion, energy storage and rational energy use.

Fraunhofer ISE is a member of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, the leading supporting organization for applied research institutions in Germany.
