Smart Bioenergy – Innovations for a Sustainable Future
As a central and politically independent thought leader, the DBFZ deals with all questions on how the limited biomass resources available can contribute sustainably and with maximum efficiency to the existing as well as to a future energy system.
In doing so, the DBFZ identifies, develops, accompanies, evaluates and demonstrates the most promising fields of application for bioenergy in theory and practice. The scientific processing of research projects is carried out, among other things, in cooperation with partners from industry, science and associations at national and international level. The project results provide scientifically sound decision-making aids for further research, governmental and non-governmental organizations as well as related industries from the energy, agriculture and forestry sectors. DBFZ scientists serve on numerous national and international committees as experts in bioenergy research due to their outstanding technical expertise.
The DBFZ was founded by the German Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (BMELV) on February 28, 2008 as a non-profit limited liability company in Berlin. The company is located at Torgauer Straße 116, in 04347 Leipzig.
